Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. Born and raised in the outskirts of Barcelona She was described as an "atypical pop singer" due to her diverse musical styles. After being captivated by Spanish folk music at the age of 13years old, she pursued a degree in musicology at the Catalonia College of Music while also performing in musical bars and weddings.She graduated with honors by virtue of her collaborative cover album together with Raul Refree in Los Angeles (2017) and her Baccalaureate-related project El Mal Querer (2018). Reimagining flamenco, mixing it with pop and hip hop music, it spawned the hit singles "Malamente" as well as "Pienso en the Mirror" which caught the interest of the Spanish general public and released to widespread applause from the critics. El Mal Querer, who was awarded the Latin Grammy Award as Album of the Year and is included in the Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time, started Rosalia's rise into the world music scene. Rosalia's 2019 albums "Con Altura" (13) and "Yo Ti Tu x Mi" (12-13) were pioneers in urbano , which earned her international success. The third studio album she released, Motomami (2022) brought reggaeton an innovative sound that was departing from its previous flamenco-inspired style. The album garnered international attention due to its singles "La Fama" and "Saoko" and was the most reviewed album of the year on Metacritic. Rosalia has scored ten top-ten singles throughout her career in her country of birth. This is the highest number for an artist hailing from the area. Rosalia has also been awarded two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including two Album of the Year awards) as well as four MTV Video Music Awards, an MTV Europe Music Award, three UK Music Video Awards and two Premio Ruido awards, among other things. In 2019, Billboard gave her the Rising Star Award for "changing the music of the present day music with her innovative flamenco-influenced pop",[18and was the first act from Spain ever to be recognized as the the Best New Artist award at the Grammys Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. She is the eldest of four children to Pilar Tobella, an entrepreneur who runs a small metalworking company. Her father, Jose Manuel Vila, was born in Cudillero, Asturias. They divorced in the year 2019. The older sister of Rosalia, Pilar Vila is born in 1989 is her stylist. Rosalia was attracted to performing arts from her early years. She discovered the discography of Camaron De la Isla. In the Taller de Musics, she started her musical training. She completed a six-year program in the academy. She started attending classes at the Raval school, and then transferred to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia. In addition, she sang as an individual at weddings and in bars with musical music where she was paid "a barely over 80 euros or in exchange for dinner".
